  For [livejournal.com profile] smallfandomfest:

If you like action/adventure but also teaminess and hurt/comfort, then Flashpoint’s the show for you. Flashpoint is a cop show about the SRU (Strategic Response Unit – sort of like SWAT) whose task is to resolve crisis situations with minimum loss of life. This is also what sets it apart from so many other procedurals:  it’s not a shoot-first-ask-questions-later kind of show. Most of the “subjects” are your everyday people who’ve often just made bad choices or whose circumstances have driven them to take desperate measures. This frequently requires the team to try and negotiate or talk down the subject, but sometimes more lethal measures need to be taken…

I love memes! Snurched from [livejournal.com profile] a_pilgrim_soul:

My Year in Fandom 2011 )

tristen84: (Christmas landscape)
I've been a little out of touch lately and it's not because there are currently no new Flashpoint episodes airing ;o) I've just been incredibly busy: I have about 40 reports to write and I have till 15 January to get them all done, so that's not a whole lot of time. It's my own fault, really, because I chose to obsess and squee over Flashpoint rather than to start working on all these reports, and I honestly don't regret making that choice. It just means I'm scrambling right now, which is why I've been a little quiet! Hopefully after Jan 15 I'll be able to kick back a little and get back to the fannish stuff.

Speaking of fannish stuff, I still plan on writing at least one more fic(let) for [livejournal.com profile] fandom_stocking, but am lacking inspiration at the moment. I want to write something Christmas-y and SHORT but everything I come up with ends up mutating into something really long, and I don't have time for long! So...would anyone care to prompt me? It can be Ed & Greg friendship or team or something with Spike. I can't promise it'll get written, but hopefully it'll inspire me to write something (other than reports ;o)).

Anyway, hope everyone on my f-list has a wonderful Christmas (or insert other appropriate holiday) with family and friends or just with a good movie or book or something else that makes you happy :o)

I should be writing essays and reports and what not, but because Flashpoint's season 4 finale's on in Canada tonight, there's so much Flashpoint love going around that I just can't not play ;o)

This way to goodies )

Honestly, I don't think there's ever been a show that revolves around friendship and family as much as Flashpoint does. And I don't think there's ever been a cast who so often and freely express their love and affection for one other as this cast. THIS, this is why it's my favourite show right now and why season 4 is my favourite season to date. So many wonderful team moments and team love and I really, really hope they'll keep that up in season 5 (and, hopefully, beyond!). God, I love this show.

Can't wait to see tonight's ep!
tristen84: (Spike: eh?)
A few days ago I was so jetlagged that I woke up at 5 in the morning and couldn't get back to sleep. So I decided to try my hand at writing a FP fic for a [livejournal.com profile] fandom_stocking. Now, it so happens the person whose stocking I wanted to stuff prefers crossovers, slash and stories with (graphic) sex in them...all things I personally don't generally like to read or write. Not that there's anything wrong with that stuff, but as a gen girl I tend to like stories about friendship and family rather than romance, etc. So I wasn't expecting to get inspired to write a story that would suit her preferences at all.

That morning, in about two hours, I whipped up an SGA/FP crossover story with Sam/Sheppard slash and sex! Huh? how the hell did that happen? And I even kind of enjoyed writing it, too! ...I'm still scratching my head at myself. ;o)

Wow.

I was gonna post about something else, but then I came across Enrico Colantoni's segment on Celebrity Ghost Stories and just had to share. I don't know if you've seen it yet [livejournal.com profile] loisarah, but it's really emotional and gave me a lot to think about. At certain points, he reminds me so much of Greg Parker (and not just because he looks like him! ;o)). If you haven't seen it yet, check it out (Rico's story starts at 2:25):

I have SO MUCH to tell but the jetlag is still kicking my butt (the irony being that I'm flying back home tomorrow and that it'll probably hit me all over again) and I can barely keep my eyes open anymore. So I'll hopefully be able to post more about meeting Sergio tomorrow (met him again today...EEEEEEEEEEE!!!) after I've gotten some sleep.

Good night!
tristen84: (Default)
So as some of you know, I went to see Sergio Di Zio in his play Dying City last night. It was a very intimitate location and the actors were close enough to touch (which, TBH I was a teeny bit intimidated by...I was like, 'Oh no! They can see me, too!' Yeah, I'm a little shy). But it was great seeing Sergio perform up close and personal and he was truly amazing. He plays identical twins, but they're two very different characters and it was incredible to see how easily he seemed to switch between them. He was really good and the play itself was thought-provoking. I was surprised at how much humour they were able to inject into it and it was a goiod thing they did, because there was a lot of sad as well. It was very hard not to cry sometimes, especially at the end.

After the show, Sergio, Lesley Faulkner (who plays Kelly) and director Peter Pasyk came back on stage for a Q&A session, which was really cool. A great way to gain a more insight and of course it was wonderful to see the actors as themselves ;o) Afterwards, they stayed and chatted with individual members of the audience. They were very approachable, but I, because of my accursed shyness, couldn't work up the nerve to say hi *FAIL!* :o( But I'm seeing it again on Thursday so maybe I'll be lucky enough that they'll decide to come out and chat with us again and maybe, hopefully, I'll manage to say hello then...

Also, Sergio's brother was in the audience tonight! Sergio's definitely the younger sibling and I didn't think they looked a lot alike at all, but they do have the same chin ;o)

So anyway, go see the play if you get a chance and are able. It's totally worth it. They extended their run by a week, so I believe it's now playing till the 17th.

In other news, my stocking over at [livejournal.com profile] fandom_stocking is up! Exciting! Now I gotta go hunt for other people's stockings to fill :o) You know, I really wish I knew how to make icons, 'cause I'd love to make a few for people!
tristen84: (Happy Spike/Sergio)
So this is the first year I've signed up for [livejournal.com profile] fandom_stocking and I'm really excited to participate! For those who haven't heard of it, it's a sort of fest where you can submit your stocking (wishlist) so others can "fill" it. You can fill other people's stockings by commenting with fic, icons, holiday wishes, etc. You're not obligated to fill anyone's stocking when you post your own wishlist, but it would be nice, of course ;o) Also, you can fill people's stockings when you haven't posted a wish list of your own.

All stockings are tagged by fandom, which makes it easier to find stockings to fill. They're still posting stockings (mine isn't up yet), so keep checking back. Rules, etc. at the link in case you'd like to participate, and I believe you can still submit your own stocking though I'm not a 100% sure.

In other news, I'm leaving for Toronto tomorrow! Going to see Sergio Di Zio in his play Dying City. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!! So excited! Read the play a couple of weeks ago and I'm really looking forward to seeing their interpretation of it live on stage. Have read nothing but good reviews so far, so yay! :o)

*bounces!*

So, wow, I'm only now getting around to writing down my thoughts on this ep!

Spoilers and love! :o) )

This ep was all about team, friendship and family, and that is why I loved it so very much!
tristen84: (Default)
Oh, TEAM! You really are a family, aren't you? SO MUCH LOVE!
tristen84: (Default)
So I was a little too busy yesterday rewatching this ep every spare minute I had to post my thoughts on it, but I've finally managed to drag myself away from all that angst and TEAM LOVE and TEAM-Y GOODNESS and just general awesomeness so here I am! God, I'm so in love with this ep (and with Spike, but you already knew that ;o))!

Spoilers 515 Blue On Blue )

All in all, absolutely brilliant episode! Definitely one of my top 3 favourites! Hee! :oD

So Sergio's new play, Dying City, opens this Friday in Toronto and here's the trailer:

Very cool. And you know what's even more cool? THAT I'M GOING TO SEE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!! :oD

Yup, I booked a trip to Toronto and bought tickets for Dying City, so I'll be able to see Sergio work his magic live! :o) It's not something I'd normally do, 'cause you know, Toronto isn't exactly around the corner for me and I'll be travelling all by my lonesome, but...it's been a rough year for me, especially the past few months, and I needed a break. I've always wanted to go to Toronto and when I heard about Sergio doing this new play in December, I thought it'd just be the perfect opportunity to go see him AND the city. So, YAY! I'm going to Flashpoint City and see Sergio! :oD

I'm currently reading the play 'cause I want to be prepared and I'm enjoying it so far. Can't wait to see Sergio perform it! :oD

Finally! The promo for 415 Blue On Blue!

And ION's description for the ep:

OMG! Is it Tuesday yet???
tristen84: (closeup Spike)
This is a truly amazing article about Sergio in which he talks about Spike, his new play (Dying City) and the loss of his mom. This article has made me love him even more. What an inspirational guy.

From: http://shows.ctv.ca/FlashPoint/article/Flashpoints-Sergio-Di-Zio-delves-into-the-heart-of-grief-in-a-new-play#c_0

An excerpt:
"On a personal note, Di Zio says his mom passed away 11 years ago. “It was a very hard time,” he says. “I was very, very close with her, but there was this gift she left me with, which was she vocalized it, saying, ‘This acting thing, if you’re going to do it, I want you to really do it.’”

And though he deems this experience of his mother’s death, “both the most beautiful and the most horrible,” he notes the inevitable growth and transformation that can be born out of grief."

Read it, it's amazing.

From TVGuide.com:
Blue on Blue
Spike responds to a distress call from Sam's sister and suddenly finds himself held at gunpoint by her criminal ex-boyfriend. Meanwhile, Team One responds to shots fired at a metro depot where two men have broken in to rob it.

Now, let's compare this to the following from Michael Shanks' website I posted a while ago:
The episode (at filming time) is titled "Blue On Blue". Michael plays a character named David Fleming, who abducts Mike "Spike" Scarlatti (played by Sergio Di Zio) in order to force him into using his computer skills to aid Fleming's efforts to steal from the police evidence depot.

So, yep, Natalie's definitely involved, and I'm guessing the criminal ex-boyfriend is part of the gang that's trying to rob the depot. The question is where this is all going to be taking place. Is Fleming's gonna take Spike to the depot or is he going to force Spike to work his computer magic from some remote computer? And in the case of the former, is he going to take Natalie as leverage? And when's the rest of the team going to figure out Spike's in trouble?

I really can't wait to find out! Looking forward to the promo we'll hopefully get after Day Game. Hee!

Anyway, not quite the kind of kidnapping I'd hoped for (I woulda liked to have seen a drugged Spike ;o)), but I'll take what I can get ;o)
