Thoughts on Flashpoint 409 The War Within

Sooooo picking up where I left off this morning:

I thought this was a really good episode. It was much more intense than Grounded IMO and it grabbed me pretty much right from the start. I dunno, I guess homosexuality is something I feel very strongly about and so it was much easier for me to sympathize with and relate to Ty and Ryan than I was able to connect with the passengers of the hijacked plane in Grounded.

I really felt for both boys, and man, did I want to slap Ryan's mom in the face. Like I said, homosexuality is something I feel very strongly about and both she and that damned "being gay is something that needs to be cured" therapist (I forget his name) totally got my hackles raised. Jules was practically fuming, and I loved how Greg told her to go easy on the guy. LOL! She may be tiny, but she would've totally torn that guy down if she'd been left to her own devices. Even without a baseball bat. ;o)

Also, the War Within was a terrific episode for character development! I love Marina and when Greg initially blew her off, I went, "Noooooooo!!!! Greg! What the hell are you thinking?!" But since I'd been a little worried about the hero-worship aspect myself, I could also kind of understand why he told her no.

Poor Greg is really just so very insecure. His "One day she's going to see through all that and she'll just see me. And then what?" broke my heart. He's just trying to protect himself, trying to prevent himself from getting hurt. I really wanted to hug Greg right then and there. But then there was Jules, who was simply awesome throughout the whole ep, telling him that Marina is most definitely NOT out of his league and it just made me want to hug all of them, because TEAM! They love each other so much!

And then of course the last scene with Greg talking to Marina on the phone totally made my heart melt. He sounded so shy and looked so nervous and hopeful... *siiiigh*

There wasn't a whole lot of Spike in this ep, but the cupcake scene was cute, even though he was just smiling his dimpled smile and didn't actually say anything ;o) Also, it seems like he always ends up having to lug around the heavy packs; if it isn't his bomb gear, it's a back pack with his other tech goodies. Poor Spike! ;o)
