I'm a little late but I wanted to post my thoughts anyway. :o)

I thought this was an okay ep. I wasn't blown away by it and for some reason it didn't really grab me. It was tense, but not INtense, if that makes sense. I think Shockwave was a tough ep to follow, even after the hiatus, since that ep was pretty much the definition of intense.

For me, Grounded didn't get tense until the last ten minutes or so. I guess there wasn't enough of a sense of urgency for me because there seemed to be so few people around. I mean, it was mostly just the one SRU unit when I would expect an airport to be swarming with police and security when a plane's been hijacked. I know this was probably a budgetary issue, but for me it kind of made the ep a little less exciting than it could've been.

Not a lot of Spike in it, but Greg was amazing and I was glad Jules was there to help and support him. Also, I adored the scene at the end with Sam, Raf and Ed. Loved how they immediately took Raf under their wing and made sure that he knew they'd be there for him. Pushed all my TEAM! buttons ;o) I was disappointed though that the hug wasn't it the ep! I felt like they cut to the end credits a few seconds too early or something.

I know this ep was aired out of order, but I really missed a bit of continuity here regarding Spike's dad. Hopefully there'll be some kind of acknowledgement of his dad's death in next week's ep, which was originally meant to air after Shockwave. At the very least I hope one of the team'll ask Spike about it or that Spike'll be a little less cheerful than useful, but I'm not holding my breath. I guess we'll just have to wait and see!

I liked it more the second time, but I think that's because it had so much Greg. ;)

I agree that it seemed to be cut off at the end. Like, it needed another moment, but boom! credits.

I didn't know it was aired out of order, but i thought it was weird that to me this was ep 408 and on facebook the pictures posted by teamone or whatever they're called listed it as 412.

I'd like to see a moment dealing with Spike's dad's death too, but I don't know that if we don't get that it means continuity error. I never assume there's only a week or so between episodes, personally.

Oh, I don't either, and I'm not saying there's a continuity error. I'm just saying I missed a bit of continuity. The thing with Spike's dad was quite an emotional character arc and I just would've liked to see the team ask him how Spike's (been) doing. But even if we don't get anything like that in the next ep, my fic pretty much picks up where Shockwave left off, so a scene with Spike returning to work after his father's passing has been taken care of ;o)

Pretty much what you said. I was waiting for the hug at the end and then - CREDITS. So now I'm wondering if it was cut or if it was the two of them hugging out of character because with this cast it's entirely possible!

I'd also like to see someone ask Spike how he's doing. I don't understand why things are aired out of order. Continuity, people! You are messing with it!

Yeah, me too. It doesn't look like it's AJJ and EC hugging because of the look on EC's face, but I guess it's possible EC needed a little pick-me-up.

Agreed! But the fact that it was the PTB themselves who suggested CTV air this ep out of order makes me think we won't get a reference to Spike's father passing away in the next ep either. Still keeping my fingers crossed though ;o)

Thanks for your thoughts of this episode. I agree with you that it was very difficult to follow Shockwave.. That episode has to be the best one ever! Tension, speed - and lots and lots of Spike!! What`s not to like :)

Grounded was ok, but will not be an episode I watch again, whereas Shockwave - LOL - I think I have watched it far too much lately! :)

I loved the team moments, though. It is nice that they take care of each other.

As for continuity, well, I wouldn`t complain if they somehow followed up a reaction to the death of Spikes father.

When is the next big Spike episode again?? :)

I agree. Shockwave's my new favourite ep ;o)

Yes, team moments are what I look for in a show and I'm really happy Flashpoint's been giving us more of those this season :o)

LOL! Well, I think there are still 1 or 2 Spike-heavy eps coming up, but I think both of them will air quite late in the season.

Sergio is indeed very talented! It is good to see that they use him more! I missed that in the first seasons.

How come I haven`t heard of him before?! It usually takes a lot for me to heart an actor like I do Sergio! I think I need to check out his other works!:)

Yeah! Well, there's Blue on Blue (I don't know how you feel about spoilers so I'll leave some spoiler space)...

In Blue on Blue Spike gets kidnapped, so I'd assume it's a Spike heavy ep. And then there's the as yet unnamed Sam/Spike ep. Mark Ellis said it was a good ep for Sam/Spike, but to be honest I don't know if that means it's a Sam/Spike-centered ep or if it just has some good Sam/Spike moments.

Yeah, me too. I'm really happy the writers have come to realize what kind of talent Sergio is and how popular Spike is with the fans. It's good to see they're giving him so much more screen time this season :o)
