Flashpoint 406 A Day In The Life

Slightly later than expected, but: 

New guy Raf! I like him! Though I have to say I wasn't too fond of the scene with him talking down the distraught mom. It felt like a little too much too soon. It's almost like we got more backstory on Raf in his very first ep than we got on Wordy in the past four years, and that stings just a little. He seems like a good guy though and I'm looking forward to seeing what his role on the team's going to be and if and how it'll change the team dynamics.

As for the rest of the ep, I liked it! Very tense and lots of stuff going on. The first hot call, with a guy named Cary about to jump from a bridge, got to me especially. I really felt for the guy and was incredibly relieved when Jules managed to talk him to safety. Jules was awesome and so was Spike! He was pretty good as Jules' second, very supportive. I'm really liking how they're giving Spike so many different things to do this season.

Greg and Marina! Now there's a ship I could get behind! Marina seems really nice, brave and smart and I really think Greg could use someone like her in his life right now. I hope it's not going to be a brief hero-worship kind of thing on Marina's part, but even if they don't hook up, it may do Greg some good to have had someone to talk to at least for a little while. Thoughts, loisarah ? ;o)

Spike, Sam, Jules and Natalie hanging out at a club, watching Raf perform was a lovely team moment. Spike was being both awkward and adorable (and a perfect gentleman!) and Sam's expression at his sister being at the club was...unfathomable. Really wondering who invited her to come though. I'd say it was Spike, since his "Look, Sam, your sister's here!" sounded just a tad too innocent ;o) Also, Natalie didn't grate on my nerves this time, which is good, though of course she didn't really have much to say this time. She did seem a little shy coming into the pub though, and I kind of liked that.

I really love how there've been so many team moments this season already, and we're not even halfway yet :oD Oh, and also, glad they haven't forgottten about Wordy!

I'm really liking how they're giving Spike so many different things to do this season.
Me too! I'm hoping we'll get to see him actually talk someone down himself at some point, because I think he's much better at people when there is something he can DO (like with the lady with the necklace bomb) so pure negotiation would be interesting to see.

I liked Marina a lot. I'm almost sure this is being set up for a serious relationship, she's pretty much perfect for him, no? Responsible, good in a crisis, not afraid to tell him to shut up. And also not afraid to hug him on the second meeting. He needs hugs.

Oh, and also, glad they haven't forgottten about Wordy!
That bit about the locker made me want to take the whole show home and cuddle it.

Yes, I'd love to see Spike having to talk someone down himself too! But since they've been so good at giving him more to do this season, I'm pretty sure we'll get to see that - if not this season, then surely in season 5.

Oh yeah, I think Marina would be perfect for Greg and I really, really hope she'll help him cope with things. *blinks* You know, this season's almost the season of love! First, it looks like Spike is being set up with Natalie, and now there's a possible love interest for Greg...

Me too! This show's pretty good at not forgetting beloved characters who are no longer on the show. For instance, I'm really impressed that the team still wear the bracelets Leah gave them to remember Lewis by. And apparently Wordy will be back, so I'm really happy about that, too :o)

Yes, it did. But I liked him better on second viewing. I was annoyed at how over eager he was, even after being told to back off repeatedly.

Jules and Spike were a good team, and that guy, Cary, so heartbreaking. I'm glad too that he ended up okay.

hahahaha. Why would I have thoughts? ;) Um... I want to like Marina. Like you, I'm hoping it isn't hero worship or solely because of what happened, and because she really took a liking to him. If she really likes him, BRING IT ON! =) She told him to shut up, and he did! Go Marina!

yeah... and I'm starting to feel a little less apprehensive. Usually when cop shows focus more on the character's private lives it turns into angst-fest and while there have been some tough moments... it hasn't been unbearably so. There's even been good things happen. And the credits have Greg smiling, for real! In street clothes... it's killing me wondering what the new footage is from...

So was I! Not exactly cocky, but over eager, yeah.

Yes, why indeed ;oP She seems like the type who wouldn't let him get away with 'I'm fine', so I have high hopes for them. And Greg really deserves people who love him, people outside of the team. Heck, I want to give him a hug pretty much every time I see him! ;o)

I know! And I immediately thought of you when I saw that! He definitely seems happy in that clip, so that's certainly hopeful. I suspect it's from one of the first ten eps, but since the show's going on hiatus for a bit after this week's ep (and I doubt it's from this ep), I guess we're going to have to wait a while to be able to see it :o(

Yes, I agree. It's probably a good thing that I'm not going to ever meet the actor, because I'd probably want to hug him just because of how Parker looks at the end of most episodes! ;)

ahahahaha! I thought of you with the group hug, and you thought about me with an actually smiling Greg!

There's also Ed out of uniform too, and it's killing me. I want to know if it's the same ep, and what's going on! And we have to wait for how long? ::sigh:: A bit longer for me because CBS dropped it and I don't have ION. So no more live viewing for me.

Did you check the ION website? Apparently sometimes ION isn't listed as ION but as a different channel.

Anyway, I've never been able to watch the show live myself, since we're a couple seasons behind here. So I've pretty much always had to watch through "other means", as much as I want to support the show.

It does seem like ION will treat Flashpoint better because they've been promoting the hell out of it, but I still would've preferred CBS keeping it. CBS has a much higher profile and it least everyone in the US receives it. Pretty sure viewership will go down quite a bit after the move, which is really sad. Ah well, as long as it continues to bring in the amazing ratings it's been pulling for CTV, Flashpoint will live on :o)

It's only available in my area if you have cable, and that's for rich folks. ;) I can't afford a cable subscription right now. I don't think I can watch ION online on Hulu, either. If it does appear there, I will definitely watch it there to support the show!

At least we know we'll get at least one more season for sure! I do think CBS dropping it will hurt, though, because it costs a couple million an episode, and ION will not be able to give the kind of monetary support CBS can.
