Don't have time to really go into it so just some random thoughts on this one :o)
Greg: "Spike, you scare me sometimes."
Spike: "I scare myself sometimes."
Hee! Absolutely the best part of the ep for me! :oD
Spike got to show off his computer skills again and Greg was once again suitably awed ;o) I'm really loving the Greg/Spike moments this season. I think Greg's got a soft spot for Spike the size of Canada ;o)
Sam questioning Ed was interesting and I can totally imagine it must've been hard for Sam to take a step back and not be TL anymore after having been the one to make the tactical decisions for five months in Ed's absense. I don't think it has anything to do with ego, as some people have suggested, but more with the fact that it's hard to give up something that you enjoy doing and that makes you feel accomplished. And it's especially hard to give up control.
Loved seeing how Spike was clearly bothered by Sam and Ed's disagreement.
The scene between Ed and Greg at the end was really cute. Not sure whether it was scripted or not (though I'm inclined to think it was) but it was a wonderful little scene. We need more friendshippy team moments like that! :o)
ETA: Just remembered another great Spike line from this ep:
Raf: "So what if it's a false alarm?"
Spike: "I dunno. Could do some shopping."
Tee hee!

Date: 2011-10-14 09:57 pm (UTC)I agree with you on Sam, but going back and rewatching season 1 it has occurred to me that for a former soldier, Sam's not always too good at taking orders. But maybe you're right about giving up control, because he's been the most rebellious at the beginning of the series and now.
And I think the majority of the end scene was scripted, but there's something about the last few lines and the reactions at the end that make me wonder if they took some liberty.

Date: 2011-10-15 01:22 pm (UTC)I think they all do, really. And who could blame them? :) I love that he's getting all these great little one liners this season.
The last scene was absolutely gorgeous. I'm pretty sure it was all scripted (but doesn't it say something about how good they are at their jobs that we're even wondering?) but the laugh at the end looked real. By all accounts those two make each other laugh a lot. Adorable cast is adorable.
I genuinely thought that this was building up to Sam transfering to another team, and I still think it might in the long run. I know the shippers would be up in arms but it would be realistic. He's ambitious and good at what he does and not quite young enough to be happy just waiting for Ed to retire.
